PHL TEAM’S VICTORY IN THE 2023 ALOHA INTERNATIONAL MATH COMPETITION IN MALAYSIA


Kuala Lumpur, 3 August 2023 – The Philippine Team bagged prestigious titles in the recently-conducted Aloha Mental Arithmethic International Competition held on 30 July 2023 at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Center in Malaysia.


Darlyn Faith Fabilane (11 y.o.) from Tanay, Rizal and Rheana Yasmin Campos (10 y.o.) from Caloocan City were declared Grand Champions in the rigorous arithmetic competition. While 7 year-old Jake Conner Yao from San Juan City was awarded Champion and 9 year-old Ryan Warren Merdegia from San Fernando, Pampanga placed 2nd runner-up.

Seven hundred students from various countries competed in this year’s tournament, including participants from Bangladesh, Croatia, China, Canada, Cambodia, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Panama, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, and Venezuela.


The Philippine Embassy extended its heartfelt congratulations to the students for their outstanding performance in the 2023 ALOHA International Competition and for being a shining example of the brilliance and potential of the Filipino youth.


ALOHA or Abacus Learning Of Higher Arithmetic offers a program that hones the arithmetic skills of children aged 4 to 13 years old. Equipping students with math skills for complex computations, the program fosters speed and accuracy, encouraging their passion for math and nurturing well-rounded individuals and future professionals. The 2023 ALOHA International Competition serves as a platform to showcase the results of this program.
